Durante los últimos 28 años, ha sido un honor y privilegio haber servido a esta increíble comunidad. Juntos, hemos creado una organización que verdaderamente se preocupa y apoya a los niños y las familias. Los recuerdos que hemos creado y los logros que hemos alcanzado siempre ocuparán un lugar especial en mi corazón.

Me invade un profundo sentimiento de gratitud y reflexión al anunciar que me jubilaré de mi cargo de Directora Ejecutiva de Family & Childcare Resources de NEW a partir del 30 de mayo de 2025.

Nuestra junta ejecutiva ha estado trabajando en un proceso de contratación y publicará el puesto a principios de enero.

A nuestro maravilloso personal, su dedicación y pasión han sido la fuerza impulsora detrás de nuestro éxito. Todos ustedes me han escuchado decir el “nosotros” colectivo, pero lo que realmente quiero decir es “ustedes”. Sus esfuerzos incansables y su compromiso inquebrantable con nuestra misión han tenido un profundo impacto en las vidas de muchas personas. Estoy profundamente agradecida por su colaboración y amistad. A mis compañeros de recursos y derivaciones para el cuidado infantil y de centros de recursos familiares en todo el estado: su inquebrantable apoyo, amabilidad y experiencia siempre han sido apreciados, y los extrañaré.

Algunos de los logros de los que estoy especialmente orgullosa:

  • La fusión en 2008 para convertirse en un centro de recursos y referencias para el cuidado infantil y un centro de recursos familiares.
  • Mi trabajo y colaboración con agencias estatales como Supporting Families Together Association y la Junta de Prevención del Abuso y Negligencia Infantil de Wisconsin.
  • Liderar la agencia durante la pandemia de COVID y apoyar a nuestro personal para que pudieran seguir apoyando a las familias y a los profesionales de la primera infancia.

A medida que paso al siguiente capítulo de mi vida, estoy segura de que Family & Childcare Resources continuará prosperando bajo un nuevo liderazgo. Si bien el panorama del cuidado infantil ha experimentado cambios significativos en los últimos 30 años, los cimientos que hemos construido juntos son sólidos. Espero ver el crecimiento continuo y el éxito de FCRNEW para aumentar el reconocimiento y la importancia del desarrollo de la primera infancia. We have a unique opportunity for a childcare provider in Brown County!

To better support their staff, a local nonprofit is looking for a dedicated member of the community to open a family childcare program. This nonprofit will require a licensee to operate this program within a facility owned by the nonprofit.

The provider will:

  • Be the licensee for the program which includes:
    • Writing polices for the childcare program and following them.
    • Pass a background check and fingerprinting
    • Meet educational requirements as mandated by the Department of Children and Families (DCF)
    • Handle all record keeping and accounting for the childcare program with support from Family and Childcare Resources of NEW and the nonprofit.
  • Plan, supervise and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that creates an environment to promote the developmental needs, health, and safety of the children enrolled.
  • Interacts directly with the children and maintains strong communication with the parents/guardian.

More details:

  • The provider/licensee would rent the facility and could live onsite.
  • There is a possibility that the licensee will need to hire staff to meet DCF 250 ratios and to possibly expand to offer 24 hour care.

Over the past 28 years, it has been my honor and privilege to serve this incredible community. Together, we have built an organization that truly cares for and supports children and families. The memories we have made and the milestones we have achieved will always hold a special place in my heart.

I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and reflection as I announce that I will be retiring from my role as Executive Director of Family and Childcare Resources of NEW effective May 30th, 2025.

Our executive board has been working on a hiring process and will post the position early in January.

To our amazing staff, your dedication and passion have been the driving force behind our success. You have all heard me say the collective “we,” but what I really mean is “you.” Your tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to our mission have made a profound impact on the lives of so many. I am deeply grateful for your partnership and friendship. To my fellow childcare resource and referral and family resource center partners across the state – your unwavering support, kindness and expertise has always been appreciated, and I will miss you.

Some of the accomplishments I am especially proud of:

  • The merger in 2008 to become a childcare resource and referral and a family resource center.
  • My work and collaboration with statewide agencies such as Supporting Families Together Association and the Wisconsin Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Board.
  • Leading the agency through COVID and supporting our staff so they could continue to support families and the early childhood professionals.

As I move on to the next chapter of my life, I am confident that Family & Childcare Resources will continue to thrive under new leadership. While the childcare landscape has undergone significant changes over the past 30 years, the foundation we have built together is strong. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of FCRNEW to increase the recognition and importance of early childhood development. I will cherish the memories we have created together, and I wish you all the best for the future.

My heart will always remain with Family & Childcare Resources and the staff. Thank you all for making my time here truly special.

¿Como ayudar y apoyar a nuestros hijos en la escuela en estos tiempos de cuarentena?

Esta pregunta parece ser la que más escucho de los padres con los que trabajo. Sin duda estos pasados 6 meses han sido tiempos de muchos retos para los padres que tienen a sus hijos en la escuela. Esta nueva modalidad de enseñanza en línea ha sido muy difícil y un largo proceso de adaptación, tanto de los estudiantes como padres de familia y profesores. Creo que cada grupo enfrenta diferentes obstáculos. Los maestros no estaban acostumbrados a enseñar en esta nueva plataforma, los estudiantes deben de usar nuevas habilidades para poder concentrarse y aprender de la misma manera que lo hacían en las escuela, pero los padres de familia, son los que enfrentan quizá más estrés con esta situación, porque aunque son vitales y sirven muchas veces como puente de comunicación entre maestro y alumno, muchas cosas están fuera de su control, como la capacidad de atención y aprendizaje de sus hijos y la manera en que el maestro facilita la clase. Por esta razón me gustaría que reflexionáramos juntos a cómo ser útiles en estos tiempos de transición.

Expectativas Realistas

Siempre que tengo conversaciones con los padres de familia y me cuentan de algún problema o reto que están experimentando, siempre les hago esta pregunta. ¿Cuáles son sus expectativas en este proceso de aprender en casa? ¿Estarán siendo expectativas realistas? ¿Ha platicado con sus niños acerca de cuáles son las expectativas que tienen ellos como niños en esta nueva experiencia de enseñanza en línea? Quizás ellos piensan que la escuela y los padres esperan mucho de ellos y eso los hace llenarse de estrés. ¿Ha conversado con el maestro del niño, de qué espera de usted como padre de familia? A veces hacernos esta simple pregunta puede poner nuestros pensamientos en orden y relajarnos, tal vez el maestro no espera que usted se convierta en profesor, tal vez lo que desea es apoyo y compresión tanto para su hijo como para ellos como profesores.

Recordemos que este proceso es nuevo para todos, muchos padres están pasando por la misma situación, hay muchas dudas, preguntas, pero si practicamos la paciencia las respuestas llegarán y esta situación mejorará y pasará como todo proceso de vida. Lo más importante es la actitud con la que vivimos el proceso. Cuando todo esto termine vamos a salir fortalecidos y con muchísimas nuevas habilidades, ahora sabemos que podemos seguir aprendiendo, no importa si no estamos físicamente presentes, quizá en un futuro sus niños ya no perderán clases por no estar presentes en la escuela, sino que lo podrán hacer desde casa. Esta transición nos va a dejar muchísimos talentos que no sabíamos que teníamos y que va a ser de mucho beneficio para todos.

Lo importante es la actitud, si los padres apoyan a sus hijos con buena actitud y con compasión sabiendo que todos están tratando y haciendo lo mejor que pueden, y que tal vez los resultados no se vean al instante, pero si a largo plazo, tal vez los niños se sentirán apoyados y motivados con confianza en ellos mismos para enfrentar de la mejor manera este proceso, de la misma forma los profesores se sentirán más motivados a enseñar, sabiendo que sus lecciones están siendo bien recibidas. Recuerden tener siempre una buena actitud en todo lo que realicen, pero al mismo tiempo practicar mucho la compasión.

Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. is looking for a Parent Educator to join our team of professionals who support parents, early childhood professionals and caregivers through our programs and resources.

We are a small nonprofit that makes a big impact on the lives of children in Northeast Wisconsin. If you want to make a difference in your community, please check out the job description below!

Parent Educator Position (Part-Time/20 hours per week)

The Parent Educator is responsible for the planning and delivery of family-based programming. This role includes providing support for families in the community through home visits. (Parent education/home visits will take place in Brown County.)

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends to meet clients
  • Must be comfortable working with diverse populations
  • Must have the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Must have the ability to organize, schedule and plan home visits
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Family Education, Psychology, Human Development or other related fields
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and auto insurance

Compensation is based on education and experience.  Starting pay is between $14 – $16 per hour.
