More Fields Means More Fun for Fly a Kite Fest

More fields means more kites, more activities, more awareness and more fun at the  5th annual Fly A Kite Fest Presented by BayCare Clinic. The kite festival is getting bigger at the Arnie Wolff Sports Complex on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Because of the growing park there will be a lot more space for kites of all kinds. Giant show kites which are inflatable kites of all shapes and colors will fill the sky. They take up a lot of room so more space means the Wisconsin Kiters Club will be able to put up more kites this year.

Precision Stunt Kite teams will be back flying dual-line and quad-line kites. Teams 180 GO! and Fire & Ice are sure to amaze those of all ages. Kites fly in dynamic formations and perform aerial maneuvers- all choreographed to music.

The kids’ activities area will have room to spread out too with games, kite decorating, tattoos, and a box maze. This year more room means we can have the Associated Bank Running of the Bols where kids get to race with parachute like kites. Make sure to get your passport punched at your favorite stops so you can choose a prize.

Don’t miss the Community First Credit Union Candy Drop. A giant kite takes to the sky with a bag full of candy. It climbs high in the sky and swirls around to drop candy to children below.

If you want a slower speed grab a picnic blanket and enjoy a burger from the concessions stand. You can also bring your yoga mat in the afternoon for Yoga under the Kites.

All of this fun is to raise awareness for healthy child development programs at Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. Programs like parenting classes, home visitation and child abuse prevention trainings help make sure children in northeast Wisconsin get a great start. Great starts are important because every child is born to fly.

Fly A Kite Fest is free while raising money through concessions and raffle ticket sales. If you do buy cotton candy, lunch or a raffle ticket for a ride of a lifetime you are supporting healthy child development programs at Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W.

Volunteers make this wonderful day of kites possible. If you would like to volunteer for Fly a Kite Fest and get an official Fly a Kite Fest t-shirt, check out some of our opportunities or contact us at 432-8899 or outreach@fcrnew.org.
