How do i get started?
Not a problem! Here are the classes and trainings that we offer at our agency that are required to be a lead teacher in a group center:
- Introduction to the Childcare Profession
- Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher
- Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care (Required if working with children under the age of two. Highly recommended as many Early Childhood professionals work in multiple classrooms.)
- Abusive Head Trauma Training (AHT)
- Mandated Reporter Training
- Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Training (SIDS)
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation training (CPR)
- Other requirements to complete outside of our agency (Links to outside organizations)
- Create a profile with the Wisconsin Registry to keep record of all your trainings and classes that you take throughout your early childhood career.
- Complete a background check with fingerprinting
- Physical completed by a licensed physician
Having these trainings and tasks completed or close to completion before you apply will make you more easily hirable! Please note that some programs may require a degree or may hire without the above on a probationary basis in accordance with their policies.
