Join Fly A Kite Fest Sponsorship or Fundraising Committee

Fly a Kite Fest needs a few amazing people join a team of passionate committee members to make the fun event fly even higher for it’s 5th milestone year. Fly a Kite Fest is a great, free community event in June that also raises awareness for healthy child development programs at Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W.

We are currently interviewing potential volunteers to be on our Fly a Kite Fest Sponsorship Committee, Chairperson for the Sponsorship Committee and Chairperson for the Fundraising Committee. Position descriptions are below. About Fly A Kite Fest: Fly A Kite Fest is a fun, free kiting event for families and neighbors in Northeast Wisconsin. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness and funding for healthy child development programs at Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. and to focus on all the benefits of a strong foundation for healthy child development. Sponsorship Committee Chairperson- Volunteer

Objective: Fly A Kite Fest has grown from 2,300 its first year to over 3,500 in its fourth year in 2016. To support the growth of the free event while continuing fundraising, the need for sponsorships is on the rise. This role will be a participant in the sponsorship committee to find ways to increase connections to current and prospective sponsors to secure increased sponsorship dollars.

Time Commitment: 2-5 hours per month 10 months a year (more during sponsor recruitment months and month of the event for approximately 40-50 hours of total time commitment)

  • Assist in recruiting 2-3 sponsorship committee members to assist in sponsor recruitment
  • Identify list of potential sponsors and brainstorm with committee to determine connections to local companies
  • Work with event chairperson and agency staff to develop materials for sponsor recruitment
  • Discuss potential leads with Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. staff and assist in setting exploratory meetings with potential sponsors, accompany staff on sponsorship meetings
  • Ensure all sponsors receive benefits outlined in sponsorship materials and make sure sponsors are aware of any bonus benefits that are provided
  • Attend Fly a Kite Fest planning committee meetings (generally held 2nd Tuesday of the month during lunch hour)
  • Attend Fly a Kite Fest to find ways to assist with event, enhance sponsor experience and to thank sponsor
  • As a member of the planning committee work together to ensure sponsors and event demonstrate the mission of Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. and values of committee
  • As part of event committee will act as ambassador of the committee and agency in promoting the community event and spirit of community along with a passion for advancing work of supporting healthy child development. Every Child is Born to Fly!

Qualifications:

  • Live or work in service delivery area of Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W.
  • Ability to organize and lead committee of volunteers
  • Ability to attend meetings and meet time commitments
  • Knowledge of community
  • Passion for helping children and families
  • Desire to be part of a passionate team of individuals producing a great event for Northeast Wisconsin

Sponsorship Committee Member- Volunteer

Objective: Fly A Kite Fest has grown from 2,300 its first year to over 3,500 in its fourth year in 2016. To support the growth of the free event while continuing fundraising, the need for sponsorships is on the rise. This role will be a participant on the sponsorship committee to find ways to increase connections to current and prospective sponsors to secure increased sponsorship dollars.

Time Commitment: This event occurs the last Saturday of June and requires approximately 1-5 hours per month for approximately 10-20 hours per year.

  • Help identify a list of potential sponsors and brainstorm with committee to determine connections to local companies
  • Work with event chairperson and agency staff to develop materials for sponsor recruitment
  • Discuss potential leads with Chairperson and Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. staff and assist in setting exploratory meetings with potential sponsors, accompany staff on sponsorship meetings
  • Brainstorm benefits and ways to further acknowledge sponsors
  • Attend Fly a Kite Fest (if possible) to find ways to assist with event, enhance sponsor experience and to thank sponsor
  • As a member of the sponsorship committee work together to ensure sponsors and acknowledgements demonstrate the mission of Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. and values of committee
  • As part of event subcommittee will act as ambassador of the committee and agency in promoting the community event and spirit of community along with a passion for advancing work of supporting healthy child development. Every Child is Born to Fly!

Fundraising Committee Chairperson- Volunteer

  • Review current revenue enhancements at the event and brainstorm with committee to improve the effectiveness of the fundraisers. Examples: Raffle and T-shirt Sales
  • Work with event chairperson and agency staff to develop materials for fundraising
  • Lead volunteers for raffles and other revenue enhancers on the day of the event
  • Recruit donations for the raffles if needed
  • Attend Fly a Kite Fest planning committee meetings (generally held 2nd Tuesday of the month during lunch hour)
  • As a member of the planning committee work together to ensure sponsors and event demonstrate the mission of Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. and values of committee
  • As part of event committee will act as ambassador of the committee and agency in promoting the community event and spirit of community along with a passion for advancing work of supporting healthy child development. Every Child is Born to Fly!
