Peace Nursery Center

Assistant Teacher in the 4K Classroom at Peace Nursery Center- Peace Nursery Center is a private preschool offering 3-year old preschool and 4K classes.  The 4K Program is in partnership with the Green Bay Public School District.

The Assistant Teacher’s primary focus is to support the lead teacher in the 4K classroom and to help meet the physical and developmental needs of the students in the classroom.

Job responsibilities for the implementation of the daily school program:

  • Work with Lead teacher to set up the classroom, to familiarize self with the lesson plan for the day, and to ensure that all materials are ready.
  • Record attendance, check student school bags for parent communication and perform general administrative duties in the classroom.  Communicate with school office as needed.
  • Work with Lead Teacher in guiding, helping and directing children through classroom activities while being sensitive to the needs, interests, attention span, and skills of each child.
  • Prepare and serve snack.
  • Assist Lead teacher in ensuring that all students arrive and depart safely from school.
  • Assist in clean-up of room after children have left.

Job Responsibilities for General Program Expectations:

  • When Lead Teacher is absent, the assistant teacher can choose to be the lead and the Substitute teacher becomes the assistant.
  • Take part in yearly and monthly lesson planning with staff.
  • Attend Staff meetings and share ideas, concerns, insights, successes, praise and criticism.
  • Personal growth-be willing to attend workshops, classes, etc. to fulfill continuing education hours.  Assistant teachers are required to earn 25 hours.

Time Commitment:

This position works Monday-Thursday during the school year. Work hours are 7:45am-3:45pm, with a slightly longer day on Mondays and Thursdays. We follow the Green Bay School District School Calendar set for 4K and are generally in session from Labor Day until the 2nd week of June. There are monthly staff meetings afterhours and several evening commitments. There are also several set up, clean up, and planning days before and after school starts, but you are generally off from mid-June through late August.

Qualification and Pay:

The Green Bay school district requires that the individual in this position be certified as an Early Childhood Teacher according the guidelines from the Department of Health and Family Services.

The pay for this position is approximately $19,000-$20,000 plus possible bonuses. There are no benefits available.

Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. has an immediate opening for an experienced Early Childhood Consultant. This person will have knowledge of YoungStar, the quality rating and improvement system for the state of Wisconsin.

Responsibilities:
A. Direct Service to child care programs
1. Quality Improvement in family child care and group centers
2. Participate in mandated professional development training’s
3. Participate in monthly teleconferences
4. Assess programs using environmental rating scale
5. Deliver Quality Improvement Technical Assistance (TA)
6. Provide support to existing child care providers/administrators

B. Training/Educational Events
1. Deliver training for child care providers including, but not limited to:
a. Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards
b. Pyramid Model
2. Participate in agency educational and outreach events

Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. Job Title:  Lead Childcare/Office Support. Approximate Schedule: Overall, approximately 15-20 hours/week; flexible scheduling required; evening support is required; some weekends.

Childcare Responsibilities:

  1. Develop curriculum for playroom and play times based on best practices in the early childhood field.
  2. Ensure a nurturing environment for children.
  3. Schedule child care providers for programming ensuring there is enough coverage for each program.
  4. Stay in the room with the children at all times or ensure another paid staff person is in the room.
  5. Assist children with bathroom needs (diapers will be changed by parents).
  6. Participate in training and other events that are recommended by supervisor.
  7. Ability to work in partnerships with families and be non-judgmental, flexible, creative, empathetic, and accepting.
  8. Maintain attendance records of all participants.

Office Support Duties: (when hours are not met with child care duties)

  1. General office support for all staff.
  2. Assist with volunteers – offering support and supervising volunteers for specific projects
